Japan denies CNN report of gforcible recruitment of 200,000 women and girlsh calling it just groundless.

On February 7 (Japan time), Chief Cabinet Secretary SUGA Yoshihide expressed Japanfs refutation regarding an article carried by CNN titled as gWhy this statue of a young girl caused a diplomatic incident.h

In that article, CNN reported that gAcademics estimate that up to 200,000 women and girls were forced into sex slavery during World War II by Japanese troops in Korea, China, Taiwan and Indonesia.h

On that portion of the Article, SUGA denied forcible recruitment by the Japanese Army and calling the number just groundless. He said gOf the documents discovered by the investigation of the Japanese Government, there were NO documents indicating that the Japanese Army and/or Authority had directly recruited comfort women by force.h
