Cost of Smear Campaign

Koreans and their US collaborators have to know that their anti-Japan smear campaign is not free of cost.

Very few Japanese care about how many statues were built in South Korea or how they hate us. We don’t mind whatever grudge they may have toward us. However, spreading lies and baseless rumors in the United States or Europe with the symbol of character assassination is a very different problem. Security and economic relationships with the United States and European countries are vital importance for Japan.

We also have a bad experience that Chiang Kai-shek’s KMT (Nationalists) wartime propaganda made the United States hostile to Japan, leading to the war in the end.

WE JAPANESE WILL NEVER TOLERATE ANY MALICIOUS ATTEMPT TO SOW DISCORD AND MISTRUST BETWEEN JAPAN AND OTHER WESTERN DEMOCRACY. THERE IS ZERO TOLERACE IN THIS REGARD.

Koreans and their US collaborators may take great delight in seeing the statue built in another US city; however, they also have to see the detrimental effect of their success. See below.

Figure 1

Figure 2

In Figure 1, you can see the significant decrease of investment by Japanese companies in S. Korea from 2012, which was the peak-time. In Figure 2, you can also see the downward trend of Japanese tourists visiting S. Korea from its peak in 2012.

The most recent survey, carried out on January 20 and 21, 2018 under joint effort of Sankei Newspaper and FNN (Fuji Sankei Network), shows that 88.6% of Japanese population supports the Abe administration’s policy to reject any and all additional demands of South Korea. The same survey also shows that 80.6% of the Japanese population considers that South Korea is unreliable as a diplomatic or economic partner.

This downward spiral of dislike, animosity and hatred will continue as long as Koreans and their US collaborators continue defamation campaign in the United States and elsewhere in the world.
